Tips on What to Take Camping

Which items are must-haves when spending a night or two in the great outdoors? Well, much depends on the camper's experience and comfort levels, but include the following for a fun, stress-free time: overnight gear, plenty of food and fun diversions.
Overnight gear
Definitely start with someplace to sleep. A tent or RV is the most common choice. If using a tent, then an air mattress makes a huge difference in sleep quality. Do not forget a sleeping bag, pillow and whatever personal items, such as clothes and toiletries, you would normally need at home. Pack a flashlight or battery-powered lantern so you can see after dark. If you are not camping at a park with facilities, then make sure to bring extra water for washing up.
Meals and snacks
Cooking and eating under the open sky is the highlight of most camping trips. Stuff a cooler with lots of ice, drinks and whatever is for dinner. Do not forget dessert and breakfast for the next morning! The simpler the meal plan, the less cleaning up is necessary. Packing paper plates and cups also helps cut down on cleanup time. Another cooking option is to bring a portable propane stove or grill. Whatever method you plan to use for cooking, make sure you have adequate supplies, such as wood, charcoal or propane. If the campsite does not offer a picnic table, then bring a folding table and chairs from home. In any case, it is enjoyable to bring folding chairs for circling the campfire at dusk.
Games and diversions
Some campers like to bring a family game to play after dinner. Some even bring a television to enjoy their favorite shows al fresco. Anyone who camps with kids knows that if there is a trail, then bikes are a great way to get around the campgrounds.
Provided that you have someplace to rest your head, something to fill your belly and something to do with your downtime, then you are sure to have an enjoyable camping expedition.
